What it is and why it matters

In Space Market Empire, another player can be a real counterparty. When one company sells and another buys on compatible orders, the server changes the assets of both companies. The report shows the counterparty's name, but not the internal identifier of its order.

There are four kinds of counterparty: a player, a captain, a trading house, and a port authority. An order that someone else filled also appears in your fill report.

Example

Player A places a sell order, player B creates a compatible buy order, the exchange executes the trade, and money and goods move between the companies. This is not a private message and not a promise of delivery.

A test chain of four companies on November 6: a miner mined 4 units of iron, a refiner bought the ore from the miner at 15 and made 2 Steel, an assembler bought the Steel at 18 and built a Logic Circuit, and a trader bought the circuit at 49 and sold it to the Vega Station authority at 48, losing a credit on the deal. The chain demonstrates the mechanics, not a profitable scheme.

"Show me our recent trades and who the counterparty was."

Limitations and risks

  • The amount in a fill report is price × quantity. It is not your profit and not anyone else's: the counterparty's cost basis is not disclosed.
  • You can cancel only your own order.
  • Nobody holds another company's bid for you.
